Jewellery workshop in Lisbon: how it works, step by step

Never held a torch or a goldsmith's hammer? Perfect — neither have most people who come to the Ignis atelier. Our workshops are designed for anyone who wants to try jewellery making for the first time. Here is how a session works, from the first email to the finished piece.
1. Choose your workshop
For a first experience we recommend one of these two 3-hour formats:
- Portuguese Filigree Workshop — for those drawn to the detail and delicacy of fine wire.
- Metal Forging Workshop — for those who prefer the sculptural gesture of hammer and anvil.
If you already know how to saw and solder, try Repoussé; if you want to learn properly, there is the Goldsmithing Foundation Course with 8 private lessons.
2. Request a booking
Choose your date and preferred time (morning, afternoon or late afternoon) using the form on the workshop page. Requesting is free: we confirm availability by email within 24 hours, with everything you need for the day.
3. What to bring
- Comfortable clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty.
- Closed shoes, and long hair tied back — we work with a torch.
- If you like, an idea or a sketch to inspire your piece.
Tools and bench are provided by the atelier.
4. At the bench
Groups are small — a maximum of 5 people — so everyone gets close guidance. The session starts with a demonstration, continues with guided practice and ends with finishing your piece. Lea adapts the pace to each person.
5. Leave with your jewel
At the end you take home the piece you made — and, as many participants say, a new way of looking at the jewellery you wear every day.
A gift idea
A workshop also makes an original gift for birthdays, couples or teams. Write to us through the contact page and we will prepare a gift voucher.
