Jewelry Care

All jewelry deserves to be cared for.

Although silver is a precious metal, the sterling silver alloy (925) contains a little copper, which is why it also oxidizes. Silver oxidation is just a superficial layer of the jewelry that makes it a little darker, but without affecting its quality. Oxidation is not a manufacturing defect, but rather a natural phenomenon. Follow some tips to increase the durability of your piece:

  • Avoid contact with abrasive products (perfumes, cosmetics, among others...)
  • Do not sleep, exercise or shower with the pieces (chlorine and perspiration degrade them)
  • When not in use, close them in their respective case to avoid contact with oxygen.
  • When storing your jewelry, avoid letting it get tangled with other pieces or rubbing against each other to prevent scratches.
  • Clean occasionally with warm water and mild soap (you can use a soft brush to help with more detailed areas). Dry well with a soft cloth.

Even with all the care, it is natural that the parts may require more in-depth maintenance. Ignis Jewellery has a maintenance service.
